Ingredients

Dough
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons cinnamon
Frosting
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Stand mixer
  • 9x13 baking dish
  • Rolling pin

Method

  1. Stir the yeast into the warm milk with a pinch of the sugar and let it foam, 5 minutes.
  2. Mix in the remaining sugar, melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt, then knead until smooth. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Roll the dough into a large rectangle. Spread with the softened butter and sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Roll up tightly, slice into 12 rolls, and place in a greased 9x13 dish. Let rise 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 350F for 18-20 minutes. Beat the frosting ingredients smooth and spread over the warm rolls.

Notes

The signature Cinnabon flavor comes from a generous cinnamon-brown sugar filling and a tangy cream cheese frosting spread on while warm.
