Ingredients

Sausage
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
Assembly
  • 4 English muffins toasted
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

  1. Mix the ground pork with the sage, thyme, salt, pepper, and brown sugar. Form into 4 thin patties, slightly larger than the muffins.
  2. Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  3. Top each hot patty with a slice of cheese to melt.
  4. Butter and toast the English muffins.
  5. Sandwich the sausage and cheese in the muffins and serve.

Notes

The sausage seasoning - sage, thyme, and a little brown sugar - is what makes it taste like McDonald's. Shape the patties slightly larger than the muffin, as they shrink.
