- Combine the apricot preserves, water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, whisking until smooth.
- Whisk the cornstarch into the cold water, then stir it into the sauce. Simmer 1-2 minutes until thickened and glossy.
- Cool slightly - it thickens more as it cools - then serve.
Notes
Apricot preserves give the authentic flavor and color. A cornstarch slurry thickens it to that glossy, dippable texture.
